Softron Media Services Announces Compatibility with Apples New Leopard Operating SystemEntire SMS Product Line Takes Advantage of Apple?s New OS Release (October 22, 2007)
DMN Newswire--2007-10-22-- Softron Media Services is pleased to announce immediate compatibility of all of its applications with Apples new Leopard OS X operation system. Starting with its flagship product, OnTheAir Video, an industry leading playout application used worldwide by broadcasters through to its newly released MovieRecorder application which is used by Final Cut Pro Editors to ingest video and edit the video while still recording, SMS assured that its products are compatible with and can take advantage of Apples Leopard.
?We believe that the overwhelming majority of Macintosh users will upgrade to Leopard, said Daniel Tapie, CEO of Softron Media Services. We want to assure all of our users and prospective customers that not only are we ready, we look forward to some of Leopards new features to enhance the user experience with our software.
About OnTheAir Video
OnTheAir Video supports Apples ProRes codec as well asDV, DVCPro, DVCPro 50, DVCPro HD, Photo JPEG, M-JPEG, MPEG-4 (I-Frame only) IMX or Uncompressed SD video output. Uncompressed video (analog or SDI) requires a video playout card from either AJA or Blackmagic Design. With the OnTheAir Video HD upgrade, high definition can be played out using an appropriate third party video card as well. OnTheAir Video supports dragging and dropping of video clips into the OnTheAir Video playlist manager. After clips have been added to the playlist, sub clips can be created by setting new in and out points directly within OnTheAir Video - even while other clips are playing. Different media types can be mixed in the playlist. Media can be stored in different formats on different drives on a fibre channel network and can be dropped on the playlist for playout as well.
OnTheAir Video is available in a PCI/DV and DV Only version. The DV only version uses third party DV converters to playback the DV video on broadcast displays. Since the bandwidth requirements of DV video are much less than other media formats, one Macintosh workstation equipped with the DV Only versions can easily playout multiple outputs to a number of DV converters.
OnTheAir Video retails for US$1795. Optional modules support multi-channel audio (US$ 649) scheduling (US$1199), logo overlay (US$ 1999) and HD (US$1299).
MovieRecorder is is used to capture video live using any format that QuickTime supports DV, DVCPro 50, DVCPRO HD. Video clips captured using MovieRecorder can be used in many Macintosh applications including Softrons OnTheAir Video, a sophisticated yet easy to use playlist manager used for broadcasting, information kiosks, and concert events. When used in conjunction with a PCI or PCIExpress video I/O card such as those from AJA or Blackmagic Design, MovieRecorder can capture uncompressed standard definition and high definition video. Designed specifically to work for live ingest, MovieRecorder will work with cameras, tape decks and live feeds.
MovieRecorder and MovieRecorder Control are available immediately from Softron Media Resellers and Softron Media worldwide. MovieRecorder has a suggested list price of US$ 895. MovieRecorder Control is bundled with MovieRecorder. MovieRecorder is also available in a DV version only that allows for multiple streams of video to be captured simultaneously.
