Softcare Releases K4 Publishing System 5.0

New version adds InDesign and InCopy CS support, enhanced XML By Dave Nagel
Softcare has released a major update to its K4 Publishing System, an integrated print workflow built around Adobe InDesign and InCopy technologies. The new version 5.0 adds several new features and gains support for InDesign CS and InCopy CS. It's available now for Mac OS X and Windows.

The K4 Publishing System is an editorial system built around Adobe InDesign and InCopy. Designed to organize the work of graphics and editorial, as well as production, it incorporates two components--a server and client software--supporting check in and check out of assets and offering simultaneous workflows between layout and editorial. It also offers features for copy editing at the page stage, content and layout change alerting, workflow routing, status tracking, version control, galley or WYSIWYG editing mode, red lining, change tracking and inline notes.


The new 5.0 release add support for InDesign CS and InCopy CS; gains improved support for ad, image and multimedia objects, including customizable status workflows and metadata handling; increases the range of file types supported through a Java-based File Manager, which includes support for Microsoft Word and Excel documents, among others; and enhances XML support for structuring content, including hierarchal structuring an the ability to pre-tag templates.

K4 Publishing System 5.0 is available now. The server component runs on Mac OS X Server, Windows, Solaris and Linux. The client software runs on Mac OS X and Windows. For more information, visit http://www.softcare.de.
