Sockeye Creative of Portland Hires New EmployeesBustling Firm Wins a Number of New Accounts and Adds to Staff (February 15, 2008)
DMN Newswire--2008-2-15-- Damien Bianchi comes to Sockeye from Hanlon Brown Design and will serve as director of interactive. A native of Boise, Idaho, Bianchi attended Linfield College and graduated with a BA in Communication. He then accepted a position at interactive learning company Flying Rhinoceros, where he learned Flash design and basic web development. He honed these skills at learning.com, also an interactive learning and educational software company in Portland. Bianchi then served in a managerial capacity at Via Training, where he grew the team of web developers from just himself to ten full web staffers.
Laura Williams came onboard as senior designer in November. Williams is a graduate of Portfolio Center in her hometown of Atlanta. After attaining a degree in Design and Art Direction, she moved to Seattle and worked as a designer for both Fitch and Methodologie. Williams frequent visits to Portland eventually captured her heart, and she made Portland her new home. She became acquainted with Sockeyes high visibility identity work for many Portland institutions, notably PSU. She began working with Sockeye as a freelance designer before transitioning into her current role as senior designer.
Mette Hornung Rankin began as a designer at Sockeye in late 2007. A dual US and Danish citizen, Rankin grew up in Madras and attended high school in Denmark, then received her degree in Commercial Printing from California Polytechnic State University. Rankin comes to Sockeye from Morrow McKenzie where she was a junior designer for 3 years. In her spare time, Rankin teaches letterpress courses at IPRC.
Bay Area native Heather Linn joined Sockeye as account director in January. In her new role, Linn will oversee a number of accounts and will ensure that planning and communication strategies are met on budget and on time. Linn comes to Sockeye from Rocketshop where she worked on Sharp Microelectronics of the Americas as well as other tech clients. A U of O Humanities graduate, Linn moved to Portland in 1993 to plan events for Portland Spirit. After three years, Linn accepted an internet marketing and account services position at White Horse Studios. She then moved on to Avenue A/Razorfish, where she worked closely in integrated marketing for adidas America.
