Social Startup Capsule Breathes Life and Context into Group Events

  (January 19, 2012)

Manhattan Beach, CA (PRWEB) January 19, 2012

Capsule, a private group and event-based sharing platform, announces today its website launch out of private beta and the arrival of its iPhone and Android apps. The service, now available at trycapsule.com, provides a suite of toolsincluding invite and RSVP, group texting, and instant photo sharingthat makes it easy for event participants to capture and share their experiences together.

"The best place to capture and preserve shared experiences is in one central location, not in the multiple streams of disjointed content that are typically found on Facebook or Twitter. By placing the focus on the group rather than the individual, Capsule gives greater context to people's posts, photos and connections -- and makes revisiting those memories more powerful," said co-founder and CEO Cyrus Farudi.

Capsule, which was founded in 2011, is designed to super-charge the entire life-cycle of a group experience by creating dynamic group interactions throughout the process: the before in which people invite, plan and RSVP; the during, which includes photo capture and instant communication; the after, consisting of photo sharing and follow-up communication; and the archive or reminiscing stage.

The problem we saw was that all the existing services for planning, communicating, and photo sharing around events and groups were incomplete. Pieces of the process had been solved, but there wasnt a solution that handled the entire life-cycle properly. It seems natural that the same service you use to plan and invite should also allow you to communicate with the group and share photos, said co-founder and CTO Omri Cohen.

Highlights of Capsules group interaction features include:
Invite and RSVP: Whether its for a wedding, birthday party, a softball game or a local meet-up, users can easily invite guests to a capsule by accessing their own contacts and manage RSVPs.
Interactive Commenting: The chatter feature allows users to see the activity across all of their capsules in a handy stream view.
CapsuleCam: The services version 1 mobile app for iPhone and Android is a dead simple point-and-shoot that automatically posts photos to the group album of a capsule. Because capsules are shared spaces tied to real-life experiences, there is no need to tag: the who, what, when, and where are all defaults of a capsule.
Group Texting: Each of your capsules has a unique phone number. When you send a text message to that number, every member of the capsule instantly receives it, like a private chat room that works on any phone. If members don't add a mobile number to their account, theyll receive your message via email. Imagine an instant alert to a change in venue, or if you want to call everyones attention to something occurring at the event: group texting is the perfect way to notify everyone instantly.
Post via email: Each capsule also gets its own unique email address, allowing people on the go to post to a Capsule and share photos directly from their email accounts.
Shared Group Photo Albums: Instantaneous group photo albums are a feature of every capsule. Users can attach photos from their computers, email them to the Capsule email address, import them from sites like Facebook, Flickr and Picassa, or post directly from their phone via CapsuleCam, Capsules mobile app.
Facebook and Twitter Friendly: Capsules are private by default, but that doesnt mean it doesnt play nice with other services. Users can pull in and push out content to and from other social networks including Facebook and Twitter.

To get started, users can sign up at trycapsule.com or download CapsuleCam from the iPhone App Store (here) or Android Market (here).

The founders of Capsule are CEO Cyrus Farudi, co-founder of Flipswap, and CTO Omri Cohen.
