Snap Appliances Offers Educational Institutions Special PricingE-coupons Redeemable for 10 Percent Savings on Via the Snap Store (September 24, 2001)
With Internet connections present in most schools, there is a need to keep up with the amount of storage required to store files and downloads. According to International Data Corporation (IDC), the United States education sector spent approximately $1 billion on disk-based storage products in 2000. As of January 2001, the firm predicts that schools' storage needs will increase at a 2000-2004 compound annual growth-rate of 11.5 percent. School administrators must find ways to keep up with burgeoning storage demands.
Educational institutions use the Snap Server for back ups, to provide near-line storage and to archive students' work. The Snap Server also provides a mature feature set that allows school network administrators, as an example, to easily set permissions and disk space quotas.
SAFARI Technologies, Inc. recently announced a digital content video delivery system that combines their Media Control Software with the Snap Server. This system provides access to video content for both classroom presentation and individual instruction and is available to the classroom over a school's existing data network. Multiple users can view the content, which is stored and accessed through the Snap Server, simultaneously.
The "Back to School Special" will be available from September 24, 2001 through October 31, 2001. Educational institutions, including K-12, colleges, and universities, will be eligible for an e-coupon for 10 percent savings across the entire Snap Server product line. The e-coupon can be used an unlimited number of times and is redeemable via the online Snap Store at www.snapserver.com.
The Snap Server product family includes the desktop model Snap Server 1000 20GB ($499 MSRP) and 40GB ($799 MSRP), and the Snap Server 2000 80GB ($1,399 MSRP).
