SmartDisk USB 2.0 Drive Coming Next Month

20 GB model to sell for $400 By Dave Nagel
SmartDisk has introduced a USB 2.0 version of its external FireFly drives. The line of drives was originally introduced at the Macworld Expo in New York in 2001 in a FireWire configuration. The new USB 2.0 models, which offer slightly faster throughput, will be available in May.

There are two new models in the line--a 5 GB model, available now, and a 20 GB model, which will ship next month. Both are designed for portability and come in a magnesium case measuring 2.5" x 4" x 0.6". The models support hosts configured with USB 2.0 or USB 1.1. They work with most Macintosh and Windows systems and do not require an external power supply.

The 20 GB FireFly for USB will sell for $399.95. The 5 GB model sells for $199.95. For more information, visit
