(March 07, 2012)

PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ -- (Marketwire) -- 03/07/12 -- Attendees can expect a different and innovative educational experience each day during the NFC Solutions Summit 2012, the Smart Card Alliance said today, announcing new agenda format details and pre-conference workshop topics. The Summit, held in partnership with the NFC Forum, is May 22 - 24, 2012 at the Grand Hyatt San Francisco Airport Hotel in Burlingame, California.

The NFC Solutions Summit 2012 will include comprehensive topics covering the state of the technology, developments in new NFC devices and add-ons, the status of the growing NFC ecosystem, the promise of NFC-enabled payments and other popular applications, NFC implementation guidance, and North American and international experiences with NFC pilots and implementations. These topics will be led by individual keynote presenters, roundtable discussion panels, and multi-speaker track panels.

The conference begins on May 22nd with a full day of keynote plenary sessions from leading analysts, NFC solutions providers, mobile operators, and retail executives. On May 23rd, attendees will be invited to choose sessions separated into NFC Technology and NFC Business Solutions tracks. Day three of the Summit on May 24th will be an innovative open conference format, using a facilitator to enlist attendees to propose self-organizing sessions and presentations in their areas of expertise.

"The agenda of the NFC Solutions Summit 2012 has been developed to offer something for every level of attendee involvement to stimulate a deeper discussion of NFC technology than what has been previously offered anywhere else," said Randy Vanderhoof, conference chair and Smart Card Alliance executive director. "We see NFC technology suppliers, applications developers, and other stakeholders coming away from this conference with a better understanding of the potential of NFC, and the many business opportunities it offers."

To provide another option for attendees to further their knowledge of NFC technology and applications, the Smart Card Alliance is adding a pre-conference workshop, "NFC Base Camp: The Fundamentals of NFC Mobile Technology and Business Applications Workshop" from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 21st. The workshop will begin with establishing a foundation on NFC technology, ecosystem, application management and security, and then explore the different NFC business applications that can be implemented.

"The workshop is especially relevant for business managers in financial institutions, retailers, enterprises and other organizations to build solid understanding of NFC technology and the impact that NFC applications can have on their business," said Cathy Medich, senior director, strategic programs, Smart Card Alliance. "Attendees will have a chance to delve deeper into the technology and business factors involving NFC, and use that knowledge to fully engage in the conference agenda."
