Smart AV Wins NAB Award for Innovation in MediaSmart Console ARC technology turns buzz into votes from conference attendees (April 26, 2005)
Smart AV today announced that it received an NAB Award for Innovation in Media (AIM) at the NAB2005 Conference and Exhibition. As one of five companies receiving the highest number of attendee votes in the Content Management category ? and the only Pro-Audio product in any category ? during the second-annual AIM program, Smart AV received AIM recognition for its Smart Console during the NAB Technology Luncheon held at the Las Vegas Convention Center on Wednesday, April 20.
?As professionals who are using broadcasting technologies day in and day out, NAB attendees are in a unique position to recognise the hottest products emerging into the marketplace. The NAB would like to extend its congratulations to all of the 2005 AIM winners who received this esteemed recognition, said NAB President and CEO Edward O. Fritts.
The top five products within each of the Content Creation, Content Management, and Content Delivery categories received recognition with a 2005 AIM. Each winning product also will be eligible for further recognition when a judging panel composed of key industry editors reviews the AIM-winning technologies and other new products at the exhibition to select an overall winner within each product category. The 2005 Editors Choice Award winners will be announced on Thursday, April 28.
?We are so honoured to have received a 2005 AIM. The attendees recognition of our product is a true testament to its value in delivering improved efficiency to engineers mixing large numbers of audio sources in high-pressure situations, said Joe Narai, Smart AVs CEO. ?Wed like to thank everyone who voted for us for recognising the unique functionality our Smart Console provides.
Designed to meet the complex requirements of mixing large numbers of audio sources in high-pressure situations, the Smart Console provides fivefold improvements in ergonomic efficiency due to a unique touch-sensitive arc that brings the desired channel and the channels surrounding it immediately to the operators fingertips. With a single touch, as many as 800 previously out-of-reach controls are conveniently placed within the operators reach. This new breed of mixing console control surface also provides broadcasters and post-production users the choice of signal-processing engine or workstation.
The Smart Console is currently available in 48- and 96-channel configurations with a 72-channel version available soon. Consoles can be fitted with up to 24 physical channel strips and an optional Post Panel depending on size. Designed purely as a control surface, the Smart Console interfaces via an open Ethernet protocol to a growing number of signal processing and routing devices. Smart Consoles demonstrated at NAB2005 were interfaced to Apples Logic Pro 7 workstation and the VADIS System from KLOTZ DIGITAL; the console also works with Merging Technologys Pyramix. Further engine solutions are in the pipeline including the DME64N and DME24N from Yamaha, Series 5 engines from SADiE including the PCM-H64, Steinbergs Nuendo, Mackies HUI, and Peaveys MediaMatrix NION.
NAB2005 took place April 16-21 in Las Vegas, with an exhibition that started on April 18. The NAB spring convention is the worlds largest electronic media show covering the development, delivery, and management of professional video and audio content across all mediums.
