Slain Washington State Patrol trooper identified; possible suspect shot self as SWAT closed in By The Associated Press

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. (AP) ' The Washington State Patrol has identified the trooper killed near Port Orchard early Thursday as 44-year old Tony Radulescu.

The agency says was a 16-year veteran who served his entire career in the patrol's Bremerton district.

He was shot after pulling over a pickup truck for a traffic stop near Gorst, about 20 miles west of Seattle. The truck was found abandoned three hours later.

A Kitsap County sheriff's SWAT team was closing in on Port Orchard house where they hoped to find the registered owner about 9 a.m. when they heard a shot and found a man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He's been taken to a hospital in Tacoma.
