Skyfire Launches First-Ever Entertainment Utility App: Skyfire VideoQ (TM) for iPhone and iPad

  (July 28, 2011)

Mountain View, CA (PRWEB) July 28, 2011

Today Skyfire, creator of the award-winning mobile browser with over 8 million downloads to date, releases Skyfire VideoQ (TM), a new kind of app that lets users watch Adobe® Flash® videos while navigating in Safari or any other browser on their iPad or iPhone. Skyfire VideoQ (TM) is not only a utility, but also an entertainment app that lets users quickly view the Webs hottest videos of the day. Skyfire VideoQ (TM) can even be used as a personal video locker to store videos for later viewing and easy sharing.

Users have several easy options for sending videos to the Skyfire VideoQ (TM) app from their browser of choice. When using Safari, for instance, a user can select the button Mail Link to This Page on the bottom of the screen. After emailing the link to video(at)skyfire(dot)com, the user can open the Skyfire VideoQ (TM) app and see a list, or Queue, of the selected video they have sent to their account, along with prior selections. Users can also cut and paste any Web page address (URL) into their Queue, or install a bookmarklet in their Safari bookmarks, which can forward pages to the Skyfire VideoQ (TM) app with a click.

Skyfire VideoQ (TM) offers an easy way to find clips and programming not to be missed. If the crowd is watching a live sporting event, celebrity meltdown or funny parody on their iPhones, find out by opening Skyfire VideoQ (TM). Customized channels, or categories to follow, in Skyfire VideoQ (TM) and the Hot list will constantly update, showing the latest trending videos. Customized channels include themes such as technology, news, sports, humor, TV, anime, gaming and kids. Future releases will offer expanded channel options.

Skyfire has been known as a browser company, but our vision is much broader: cloud solutions for mobility, said Skyfire CEO Jeffrey Glueck. Our products span consumer apps like Skyfire VideoQ (TM), which uses the cloud to improve consumers mobile video experience, to carrier-grade infrastructure products for operators that use cloud technology to provide game-changing solutions to manage bandwidth.

For consumers, Skyfires cloud video optimization service saves data subscribers an average of 75 percent on data use while streaming video, allowing users to watch up to four times more video. In a world with increasingly limited data plans, Skyfire can not only make video easier to watch on crowded cell towers, but also save users hundreds of dollars over the life of their mobile device.
