SketchUp 3.0 Scheduled for June ReleaseNew version to be previewed this week
SketchUp is a complement to existing AEC tools, designed to provide tools for quick conceptualization, creation and modification of 3D elements. According to @Last, version 3.0 will offer enhancements to dimensions and annotations; curved faces and soft edges; and material transparency. It will offer animation export in AVI and QuickTime formats, as well as VRML. And it will add filled polygon vector output in EPS and PDF formats. (The software already supports a number of raster and vector formats, including PDF, PSD, PICT, EPS, TGA, SGI and BMP, as well as DWG, DXF and 3DS formats.)
@Last has not yet announced pricing for the new version but says the software will be available in early June. The current version, available for Mac OS X and Windows, sells for $495. For more information, visit http://www.sketchup.com.
