Simba Technologies to Demo Excel Spreadsheet PivotTables Connectivity for Oracle 11g OLAP Option at OpenWorld 2009

(September 15, 2009)

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/15/09 -- Simba Technologies Inc., industry's choice for standards-based relational and multi-dimensional data connectivity, announced today that its CEO, Amyn Rajan, will speak at Oracle OpenWorld 2009 in San Francisco. Rajan will present a conference session entitled "Using Excel and Oracle for Business Intelligence and Ad Hoc Reporting," Session ID S308590 on October 12th at 5:30pm, Room 2010 in Moscone West.

Rajan will demonstrate how business users can use an Excel spreadsheet PivotTable to query rich analytic content directly from an Oracle 11g OLAP Option database. This use of Excel with Oracle OLAP is identical to how an Excel PivotTable queries Microsoft Analysis Services and SAP NetWeaver BW. Attendees will see how Excel's rich data selection, multi-dimensional display, hierarchical navigation and data visualization features, as well as integration with other Microsoft Office applications make Excel PivotTables on Oracle a preferred business intelligence solution. Database Administrators will learn that this solution is easy to deploy and cost-effective.

Rajan has over 17 years software experience and is responsible for driving Simba's success as the recognized leader in relational and multi-dimensional data connectivity solutions. Today, Simba's OLAP technologies are the foundation of over half of industry's MDX Query Language-based data connectivity providers. Simba's MDX 2005 Query Language technology is incorporated into key products from major database and business intelligence companies worldwide.

Rajan's OpenWorld 2009 session will highlight new features in Microsoft Excel 2007 PivotTables now available to Oracle OLAP users, including easy dashboard-like formatting and the ability to securely share and present information among database users using the Microsoft Office suite of products. It will show Oracle customers how they can easily and directly connect the latest version of Excel PivotTables to Oracle OLAP data cubes to gain advanced analytics. This is not a spreadsheet add-in like what Oracle offered for Oracle 10g. Simba's MDX 2005 Query Language technology, upon which the Excel PivotTable connectivity to 11g is based, makes a direct connection possible, improving ease of use and performance. Oracle does not offer a spreadsheet add-in for Oracle 11g OLAP Option.

If your organization uses Microsoft Excel for business intelligence and needs to query data in an Oracle OLAP data warehouse, this is a must-see session for you. Simba's solution supports Oracle 11g OLAP Option Release 1 and Release 2, as well as Microsoft Excel 2003 and 2007.
