Sim Video Purchases FOR-A HANABI SwitcherVersatility and cost-effectiveness are main reasons for selection (March 17, 2005)
Sim Video, a premier video production rental house headquartered in Toronto, with offices in Vancouver and Los Angeles, has purchased a HANABI HVS-1000HS one mix/effect switcher from FOR-A Corporation. Sim Video, which provides professional broadcast equipment to companies throughout North America, chose the switcher for its versatility and cost-effective features.
“We provide equipment primarily for multi-camera productions,” said Rob Sim, President and Founder, Sim Video. “Because some of our customers have not yet made the transition to high definition, we wanted a switcher that could work in serial digital standard definition and high definition – for our future needs. We found that, in a cost-effective package, in the HVS-1000HS.”
The HANABI HVS-1000HS is a one M/E switcher that supports 1080i, 24p, 720p, and standard definition formats. One DVE card comes pre-installed on the HVS-1000HS and an additional card can be installed for increased flexibility. The switcher also comes standard with eight inputs, and can be configured for up to 16 inputs.
Sim found these last two options a particularly attractive aspect of the HVS-1000HS: “We liked the ease with which you can expand this switcher, especially when it comes to inputs and DVE channels. No two productions are the same, and when a client wants to use this switcher on a new project, he won’t have any trouble upgrading these features. As a rental company, that’s very important to us.”
Andrew Alexander, Vice President of FOR-A Canada, feels the switcher is an excellent match for Sim Video. "Sim Video’s demanding rental applications require a proven HD/SD platform with exceptional image quality. The HANABI HVS-1000HS’ small size and intuitive operating system are perfect for the production rental marketplace.”
“The HVS-1000HS is our third generation of HD switcher product,” continued Alexander. “We designed it to allow end users to transition easily to HD production. Unlike many of our competitors, FOR-A’s switcher operating systems have evolved to reflect changes in switcher features and client needs.”
FOR-A is a major manufacturer and distributor of video and audio systems for the broadcast, post production and professional video markets.
