Siemens To Report on Smart Home/Triple Play StrategiesTo present at the Broadband World Forum Europe in Madrid, Spain (September 28, 2005)
At the Broadband World Forum Europe in Madrid, Spain, Siemens Communications will report on carrier services which take the Triple Play strategy a step further.
The growing interest on the part of telecom carriers in value-added services- and namely smart home applications is driven mainly by two key evolution trends in the market: the decrease of voice traffic on the fixed network, and the voice traffic migration from fixed to mobile networks.
The motivation for telecom carriers to sell broadband access to the Internet is the first phase in their business model evolution, but provides limited ARPU. Through the introduction of value-added services the second phase-operators can achieve important increases in ARPU, continuation of high subscription rates, and reduce churn.
Beside Internet and video communication services, entertainment services such as IPTV and video-on-demand are among the most promising value-added services carriers are currently looking for. In addition, home automation services will enrich carriers' service offerings and will bring them a step beyond the triple play. In short, The Smart Home = Triple Play Plus.
The presentation will be held October 5 at 3:45 p.m. (Palacio Municipal de Congresos).
