Sibelius Comes to Mac OS XMusic notation software gets more than 200 new features
According tot he company, Sibelius 2 includes more than 200 new features and enhancements. Among these is a new function called Arrange, which the company says uses "artificial intelligence" to arrange and orchestrate music automatically. (For example, a piano piece can be automatically orchestrated for an entire ensemble.) Arrange was partly designed by Sibelius user Michael Price, whose orchestration credits include the recent Steven Spielberg/Tom Hanks HBO special Band of Brothers.
Some of Sibelius 2's other new features include:
- Faster note input, including new keyboard equivalents for most editing features.
- More natural playback with enhanced Rubato and Rhythmic Feel.
- Easier import of color graphics for creating covers or adding color graphics to worksheets or just coloring notes according to their pitch.
Sibelius announced the launch of PhotoScore Professional 2 for Mac OS X. PhotoScore 2 is an improved version of the optical music recognition software developed by Neuratron that allows users to scan printed music into Sibelius 2 software.
While PhotoScore Lite is included with Sibelius 2, the Professional version offers faster scanning and more accurate note recognition. Once music is scanned with PhotoScore, it can be brought into Sibelius 2 and edited, transposed, rearranged, played back and printed.
