Showtime Networks Names Danielle Gelber VP, Original Programming

Responsible for development and creative oversight of new original series (January 08, 2002)
Danielle Gelber has joined Showtime Networks Inc. as Vice President, Original Programming, it was announced today by Gary Levine, Executive Vice President, Original Programming, to whom she will report.

In this position, she will be responsible for the development and creative oversight of new Showtime original series.

In making the announcement Mr. Levine stated, "Danielle is one of the best in the business and we are thrilled to have lured her to Showtime. With her extensive relationships, her incredible track record and her impeccable taste, we know Danielle will be instrumental in taking Showtime's series to ever new heights."

Previously, Gelber spent 8 years in drama series development at Fox Broadcasting Company. She most recently served as Senior Vice President, Drama Series Programming, where she was the head of the Drama Development Department. During that time, she developed such hit series as: The X-Files, Ally McBeal, Party of Five, Melrose Place, Beverly Hills: 90210, Boston Public and Dark Angel, among others. While at Fox, she also developed the original pilot scripts for The Sopranos and Dawsons Creek. She joined Fox as a Director. Prior to Fox, Gelber was Director of Television Development at Spelling Television.

Gelber received a BA in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a Masters Degree in International Relations and Communications from American University. She will work out of Showtimes Los Angeles office.
