Shoulder 2 Shoulder to Launch IMPACT iPad App at NDIA 2012 Global Explosive Ordnance Disposal Conference(May 01, 2012)
Bluemont, Virginia (PRWEB) May 01, 2012
Shoulder 2 Shoulder, a Service-Disabled, Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) developer of innovative mobile and web multimedia applications, has announced that the Company will launch the IMPACT (Injured Military Personnel Assisting Combat Troops) iPad Application at the NDIA 2012 Global Explosive Ordnance Disposal Conference. The event, taking place on May 2nd and 3rd in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, will also feature a joint presentation by co-founders Ken Falke and Chris Ferguson about the goals of IMPACT.
The IMPACT program features first person video interviews with wounded warriors along with other multimedia content within an iPad application for viewing, organizing and sharing that content among the CIED (Counter Improvised Explosive Device) community.
The IMPACT content features actual, professionally-produced video interviews from wounded warriors relaying their personal experiences about actual IED strikes during combat. The videos include critical information about the events leading up to the strike including pre-deployment training, unclassified details of the incident and life-saving lessons. The video series leverages these first person accounts to capture a holistic view of the efforts in place and to better prepare troops to counter the continuing threat of IEDs. To view sample video highlights, visit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5INQiMZ6W7E.
The IMPACT iPad app can be downloaded at no charge from the iTunes store beginning May 1st. A web version will available later this year with iPhone and Android versions to follow. IMPACT is conceived and developed solely for the use of the deployed, wounded and retired CIED community and requires relevant military credentials for use.
Besides the robust analysis that first person accounts enable, the IMPACT solution will provide a great deal back to the wounded warriors who have offered to tell their stories, said Ken Falke, co-founder. It allows a more immediate catharsis for these veterans by sharing their story within a secure platform of people who appreciate the combat environment and who care about their well-being.
During the NDIA Exhibition, Shoulder 2 Shoulder will host a booth to conduct live video interviews of servicemen who register to participate in the IMPACT series. These interviews will become part of future programming content. For more information on how to participate in the video series, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
The NDIA conference will facilitate contact and cooperation between industry and the EOD community with the goal of ensuring EOD forces have access to the ideas and technologies that originate in the nations industrial and academic base. Further, the event will foster dialogue and sharing of industry and academic viewpoints, recommendations, and advice on EOD support concepts, plans, programs, and technologies.
