Shooters Post & Transfer Installs BrightDrive to Provide Media Sharing Infrastructure for all DI and Digital Film Processes(January 21, 2008)
DMN Newswire--2008-1-21--Bright Systems, Inc., developer of disk recording and data infrastructure technology, has announced that Shooters Post & Transfer in Philadelphia, USA, has installed a BrightDrive shareable media store for digital post and for its visual effects and film finishing division - DIVE. The system is being used primarily by DIVE for film finishing and VFX services, and is also available for all other core postproduction activities where operators need to share media.
BrightDrive has been installed at Shooters with two real-time workspaces, and is integrated with existing Apple X-SAN and X-RAID storage. The system is connected to 20 clients, including Autodesks Inferno and Smoke2K, daVincis Resolve and a Grass Valley Bones, enabling multiple operators to access and work on the same media concurrently.
?We needed a system that could provide centralized storage coupled with fast and easy accessibility to media for all operators, said Ray Carballada, Chief Operating Officer, Shooters Post and Transfer. ?We chose BrightDrive because it had the bandwidth we required was able to work seamlessly with our existing systems. The ability to playout in real-time via the SAN network has given us a more collaborative and productive environment.
BrightDrive also simplifies Shooters disk and data management functions and increases drive capacity through use of its own consolidated hardware and image-aware data management applications. Operators are able to work with single and mixed resolution projects without reformatting. The system also enables Shooters to output in any format including SD, PAL, HD 720p, 1080i, 24p, HDCAM SR, uncompressed HD, 4;4:4 and 2K.
