Shining Technology Ships CitiDISK RecordersB&H Photo Video, ProCon Digital Systems and Samy's Camera to Carry Palm-Sized HDV/HD Recorders. (May 01, 2006)
Signifying rapid market adoption of tapeless recording technology offering new productivity levels to DV/HDV/HD professionals, Shining Technology today announced a series of agreements with industry-leading distributors/retailers to carry its award-winning line of CitiDISK recorders.
CitiDISK is part of a burgeoning area within the video, broadcast and editing markets, known as tapeless acquisition, the ability to save significant production time by recording directly from camcorder into one's non-linear editing system (eliminating the video capture process). This type of peripheral complements the increasing slate of new HDV/HD cameras and related video gear sold by Shining's best-of-breed distribution partners. These include B&H Photo Video, ProCon Digital Systems and Samy's Camera.
"We are excited to partner with this group of video professionals, those focused on our end-users from a well-rounded perspective," said Chris Wang, marketing manager at Shining Technology. "The scope of these relationships will increase Shining's national reach, and further raise awareness of tapeless acquisition as a must-have tool."
"When your customers are network-level broadcast and newsgathering pros, portability is extremely important when shooting for news," said Vincent Bruno, managing director, ProCon Digital Systems. "And with all the excitement surrounding Panasonic's AG-HVX200 camera (HD), the lightweight, high-capacity CitiDISK drives will be a highly effective tool in the field."
Award-Winning CitiDISK Family
CitiDISK is a high-capacity video storage peripheral small enough to fit in the palm of the hand. Weighing a mere 10 oz., the FireWire-enabled device offers the speed, storage capacity, portability and simplicity of recording directly from camcorders into most NLE (non-linear editing) software packages with instant playback capability, thus eliminating the otherwise time-consuming intermediate step of re-capturing video footage.
Shining Technology has been well entrenched in the digital video market for years. Its highly regarded CitiDISK family, which has won several industry awards, began with the DV version, and now includes support for HDV / HD formats (shown at NAB2006).
