Sharp's Up-700 POS System Offers a Menu of Applications for Hospitality Industry

UP-700 Offers Ability to Connect 64 POS Terminals in a Network (October 29, 2001)
Sharp Electronics Corporation, a leader in the Point of Sale (POS) Industry, today introduced the UP-700 designed for the hospitality market. The UP-700 features a high-speed Ethernet LAN supporting TCP/IP protocol, allowing users to connect up to 64 POS terminals in a single network and to connect to the Internet. The UP-700's PLU menu keys allow users to maximize the flat micro-motion keyboard space through menu-screen prompting on the unit's multi-line, fully adjustable backlit LCD display panel. The model also offers an integrated, high-speed receipt/journal thermal printer that allows for greater customer throughput, easy-to-read receipts, quiet operation and graphic logo capabilities.

Designed to simplify manager control and increase overall efficiency, the UP-700 offers macro function keys, multiple data capture function keys, negative number checking and a full menu of management reports through its powerful, built-in Flash Rom technology. Software feature sets such as "on the fly" price changes, daily specials, combo tables with upsize functionality, multiple menu levels and standard scanning interface make the UP-700 a "Best in Class" solution.

"The UP-700 is an incredible POS terminal; one that is small enough to integrate into almost any hospitality environment," said Joseph Finizio, vice president and general manager, Sharp Point of Sale division. "With the unit's superior software and hardware features, the UP-700 stands out from the crowd and with Sharp's renowned quality and reliability, it should represent the solution of choice for hospitality customers."

Along with a multitude of standard hardware and software features, the UP-700 offers true system flexibility due to a variety of optional accessories. An optional pole display can be added for multi-lane cafeteria applications and an optional magnetic card reader can be used for both credit card and debit card applications.

The UP-700 is available through Sharp's authorized dealer network at a list price of $1,349.
