Sharp Adds Two 17-Inch Desktop LCD Displays

High-speed response and stylish design characterize two new models. (June 03, 2004)

Sharp Systems of America, a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation, today announced two new additions to its LCD monitor line-up: the LL-172G and the LL-172A. The full-featured 17-inch LCD monitors deliver professional performance at competitive prices, and provide users with cost flexibility for their features. Both are full-featured professional quality displays, with a high-speed response time of 16ms, and a stylish design that looks great on the desktop.

"Sharp is leading the pack as we work toward providing consumers with highly stylish, cost-effective LCD displays that perform on the professional level," said Terry Hanly, product marketing manager for Sharp Systems of America. "These two new LCD monitors provide both professional and home users with the performance that the highly visual applications of today and tomorrow demand. Users can purchase these models knowing that their display will give them the performance power needed for years to come."

LL-172G
Built in the pursuit of easy-to-use design and functionality, the Sharp LL-172G features exceptional style with smooth lines, a narrow frame, and adjustable height. Equipped with built-in stereo speakers, and compatible with both analog and digital video inputs, the LL-172G is a high-resolution 17-inch SXGA (1280 x 1024) monitor with a 1.3 Megapixel display resolution that responds to a wide range of needs. With its 300-nit brightness and 450:1 contrast ratio, the price performance of this monitor is exceptional. The Sharp LL-172G features an array of built-in display modes for flexible usage. Included in these modes are the "Office mode" for a lower brightness display, which reduces power consumption, a "Vivid mode" for photo-realistic imaging, and a "Standard mode" for displaying colors from the original sRGB standard of liquid crystal panels.

A distinguishing feature of the Sharp LL-172G is the ability to accept input from 3 different computers (using additional connection cables, sold separately). In addition to an analog mini D-sub 15-pin connector for analog signal input, the LL-172G is equipped with a DVI-I connector for handling digital or analog signals. The digital video input capability enhances the overall image quality for demanding professional users.

The Sharp LL-172G features a color management function compatible with the "sRGB" international standard for color reproduction. By performing color conversions with "ICC profile" that adjust to liquid crystal characteristics, the LL-172G displays pictures with natural tones, and color matching is achieved with sRGB compatible peripheral equipment.

The Sharp LL-172G also features slide system height adjustment. With this integrated slide system, users are able to swivel the display 90 degrees and adjust the screen angle and height up to 70mm for ergonomic comfort and productivity.

The LL-172G is available in white or black and features a long life (approximately 50,000 hours) backlight. Available immediately, the LL-172G has an estimated street price of $499.

LL-172A
The stylish Sharp LL-172A produces a bright, easy-to-see high-definition display, and a design that enables great space-savings in your office or home. The LL-172A is a professional-class high-resolution 17-inch SXGA (1,280 x 1,024) display with a contrast ratio of 450:1, built-in stereo speakers and built-in AC adapter. The display is equipped with a high-performance TFT LCD that achieves a wide viewing angle of 160-degrees horizontally and vertically. The unit's 1.3 Megapixel display resolution provides users with a high resolution monitor experience, and with a high brightness of 300 nits and a 16ms response rate, the Sharp LL-172A provides users with the high-speed performance that the professionals enjoy at a retail price.

The unit comes equipped with settings that can be easily switched to meet the users viewing preferences. The "Office mode" lowers the brightness of the unit while reducing power consumption to 15 watts. The "Vivid mode" enables optimal viewing for photo-realistic images, and the "Standard mode" for displaying colors from the original sRGB standard of liquid crystal panels.

The Sharp LL-172A features a color management function compatible with the "sRGB" international standard for color reproduction. By performing color conversions that adjust to liquid crystal characteristics with "ICC profile", the LL-172A displays pictures with natural tones, and color matching is achieved with sRGB compatible peripheral equipment.

Available in black (with white back cabinet and silver stand) or white (with white stand) the Sharp LL-172A is available for an estimated street price of $479.
