ServerPronto Launches Cloud Optimized Server Operating Systems(October 27, 2011)
NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 10/27/11 -- ServerPronto's Xtreme discount dedicated server package just got a little more extreme with the addition of three new operating systems. Now, businesses that tap into virtualization and cloud solutions can choose an operating system that meets their distinct needs.
In addition to popular Linux and Microsoft operating systems, ServerPronto's Xtreme package now offers customers the choice of VMware VMvisor 5 (ESXi5), Xen Cloud Platform (XCP) 1.0, and Citrix XenServer 6.0. The new options are available at no extra charge.
"We are in the Cloud Era, an era where new cloud servers are emerging with new IT requirements," said Jon Ham, Technical Operations Manager at discount dedicated server provider ServerPronto. "ServerPronto is expanding its operating system offerings to help our clients tap into the power of virtualization and the cloud."
VMware's ESXi is a "bare-metal" hypervisor, meaning it installs directly on top of the physical server and partitions it into multiple virtual machines that can run simultaneously, sharing the physical resources of the underlying server. Citrix XenServer 6.0 is the most recent edition of the company's server virtualization product line and the first version optimized for the Cloud Era. XenServer 6 improves scalability and performance for cloud infrastructure, desktop virtualization and networking. And Xen Cloud Platform can be used as a standalone solution to build private clouds or as an enterprise server virtualization solution.
According to new research from IDC, worldwide revenue for servers deployed to public clouds will reach $3.6 billion in 2015 while private cloud server revenue will balloon to $5.8 billion.
Katie Broderick, a senior research analyst at IDC, said the "evolutionary and revolutionary changes in IT deployment and business attitudes are having a profound impact on traditional IT environments." With its new Xtreme package operating system options, ServerPronto is helping to prepare customers for the revolution.
ServerPronto is part of the Infolink Group, Inc. companies that also include MailPronto, ColoPronto and CloudPronto, which have been leading a low-cost revolution in the hosting industry since 2003.
