Sennheiser Broadside At The BRITSSennheiser RF and personal monitors with Neumann casules were used by nearly every presenter at the 2006 BRIT Awards (March 14, 2006)
Sennheiser and Neumann microphones were very much in evidence once again at the 2006 BRIT Awards held at Earls Court, London. All presenters on the night used the SKM 5000N, which marries the outstanding RF that Sennheiser is renowned for, with all the warmth of a great Neumann capsule. The 2006 show also saw all acts, with the exception of Coldplay, utilizing the Sennheiser Evolution 300 series personal monitors. The Kaiser Chiefs opened the show with a full compliment of Evolution mics, before going on to collect awards in three categories - Best British Rock Act, Best British Live Act, and Best British Group.
Amongst other artists choosing Sennheiser were Jack Johnson, Gorillaz and, despite the distraction of 77 near-naked gold-painted ladies, Kanye West, who picked up Best International Breakthrough Act. Sennheiser artist relations manager, Mark Saunders says, "We are particularly pleased that Sennheiser personal monitor systems have rapidly become the industry standard, and also that we are maintaining our status as preferred broadcast microphone manufacturer."
Sennheiser presence at the show was once again supported by leading sound designer, Derrick Zieba and Britannia Row Productions. "This is the fifth consecutive year that I have collaborated at the BRITS with Sennheiser," said Zieba. "Yet again they provided faultless wireless from the outset. Their dedication to providing the artists with their choice of mic was outstanding and their technical support team is second to none."
Established in 1945 in Wedemark, Germany, Sennheiser is the acknowledged world leader in microphone technology, RF-wireless and infrared sound transmission, headphone transducer technology, and most recently, in the development of active noise-cancellation. Sennheiser Electronic Corporation is the U.S. wholly-owned subsidiary, with headquarters in Old Lyme, Connecticut.
