Seek Releases FasFile Xcelerator for Mac

SCSI accelerator also supports OS X By Dave Nagel
Seek Systems has brought its FasFile Xcelerator to the Macintosh, including Mac OS X. FasFile Xcelerator enhances the performance of SCSI-attached storage and was previously available only for Windows and some Unix systems.

The company says the accelerator offers performance improvements "up to 400 percent." It's targeted the product at multimedia, video editing and prepress users.

Xcelerator is an alternative to Solid State Disk that requires no management or changes to an existing storage environment. Attaching to a host or server's SCSI bus to support any standard SCSI RAID or JBOD array, Xcelerator accelerates performance by continually monitoring content and dynamically adapting to the changing profile of applications. Xcelerator is designed to relieve I/O bottlenecks and accelerate data access during peak times. The appliance can support up to six hosts and allows users to utilize multiple operating systems, such as Windows NT/2000, UNIX and SGI Irix within the same storage array.
