Santa Barbara Walk Now for Autism Speaks, November 5 at East Beach

Noted Attendees Include Santa Barbara Mayor Helene Schneider and Andrew Firestone (October 24, 2011)

SANTA BARBARA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/24/11 -- Experience the power of a community united by autism at the 3rd annual Santa Barbara Walk Now for Autism Speaks on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at East Beach in Santa Barbara, located at the cross streets of Corona Del Mar and Cabrillo Blvd.

Powered by volunteers and families with loved ones on the autism spectrum, this fundraising effort generates vital funds for autism research, awareness and family services. Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disorder, with 1% of the population affected.

Celebrity walk attendees include:

  • HELENE SCHNEIDER: Mayor of Santa Barbara
  • ANDREW FIRESTONE
  • SALUD CARBAJAL: Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors, 1st District

Firestone will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Members of the media are invited to attend the event, interview and photograph participants, volunteers and special guests. Registration begins at 8 a.m., the opening ceremony is at 9:30 a.m. and the walk kicks off at 10 a.m.
