SanDisk Intros 4 GB CompactFlash CardCompany also announces other improved media capacities, new card reader
Among SanDisk's new offerings is a 4 GB CompactFlash card, the highest-capacity Type 1 CompactFlash media to date, with the ability to hold about 4,000 high-resolution images. The company also expanded its CompactFlash offerings with a 2 GB model. Both are expected to ship this summer. The 4 GB version will sell for $999.99, while the 2 GB version will sell for $499.99.
On the SD card front, SanDisk has also upped the capacities of its models, including a new 1 GB card and a 512 MB version. The 512 MB SD card is expected to ship next quarter for $169.99. The 1 GB model will be available in the third quarter for $329.99. The company has also launched a 128 MB MultiMediaCard, which will be available later this month for $74.99.
Finally, SanDisk has also announced four new single-slot media card readers. The four models come in different configurations supporting multiple formats, including:
- CompactFlash Type I and Type II and IBM MicroDrives;
- SD and MultiMediaCard media;
- SmartMedia and xD-Picture Card media;
- Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro.
All of the new cards support USB 2.0 and are expected to ship for Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows in the second quarter. They will sell for $19.99, except for the SmartMedia reader, which will sell for $24.99. For more information, visit http://www.sandisk.com.
