San Jose post office evacuated after powder found

San Jose post office evacuated after white powder found in package; 2 workers feel ill By The Associated Press

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) ' Authorities have evacuated a post office in downtown San Jose after a mysterious white powder was discovered in a package.

Fire Capt. Mary Gutierrez told the San Jose Mercury News ( ) that two employees complained of sore throats and headaches Tuesday after being exposed to the package.

Gutierrez says those two, as well as a third employee in the area, have been decontaminated by a hazardous materials unit.

U.S. Postal Service spokeswoman Augustine Ruiz says the building was evacuated immediately after the package's discovery and that police are investigating.
