Samsung Camera Launches 5 Mega-Pixel Digimax A50
For better movies, the Digimax A50 supports MPEG-4, the high-compression, high-quality video format that can record for up to 3-4 times longer than traditional video formats commonly used in other digital cameras. The Digimax A50 can even record more than 1 hour of high quality VGA (640×480) video at 30 fps when using a 256 MB memory card. With VGA technology, the A50 provides a larger screen view and clearer video quality when played on an LCD or TV screen. The A50 also offers movie stabilization. Through automatic detection and correction of lateral and vertical camera movement caused by the shooters unsteady hand, the recording of the subject itself is kept steady. The camera also features movie clip editing functions, which were previously only possible with the use of a PC. Users can now make better videos with options such as the ability to select a part of a movie clip for saving during playback as well as the ability to select part of a movie clip to be saved as a still image all performed right on the camera. The enhanced movie mode options dont stop there as the A50 features successive video recording based on unique Samsung technology. With successive recording, shooters can pause and resume video recording at any time and merge multiple video files into one single file. Users can also take advantage of the A50s 3x optical zoom while recording.
The Digimax A50 features several special effect functions that shooters can take advantage of. The special effect functions offered by the Digimax A50 include: Color Effect, offering a variety of colors, including B/W, sepia, blue, red, green or Negative depending on your photographic settings; Highlight, which keeps the subject in sharp focus while putting the rest of the image into soft focus; Photo Frame, allowing the shooter to choose from nine different types of photo frames to shoot their subjects in; and Composite Shot that allows the user to take 2-4 shots, and save them into a single file.
The Digimax A50 also offers Continuous Shooting and Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB) functions. Shooters can use Continuous Shooting to shoot a fast-moving subject and AEB to shoot a series of pictures with slightly varying exposures.
With the built-in image editing function of the Digimax A50, users can edit a variety of images without the use of a PC. The Trimming function can be used to cut an undesired part of an image and save only the required part. When short of memory, shooters can use the Resizing function to recover some of the memory space, by resizing and saving images in a smaller size. The Rotating function allows users to rotate an image in the desired direction and save it.
With its Auto Macro function, the Digimax A50 automatically adjusts shooting distance and focus. By using the A50s macro button, users can set the camera to automatically adjust distance and focus from between 5cm to infinity, obtaining crystal clear images regardless of their shooting range.
The Digimax A50 also supports various scene modes, helping shooters capture the best images in a variety of settings. The ten scene modes supported by the Digimax A50 include Night Scene, Portrait, Children, Landscape, Close-up, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks and Beach & Snow.
The A50 also offers PictBridge technology, allowing users to connect the camera directly to a printer by using the supplied USB cable and output images right from the camera's internal memory or SD card. In addition, the A50 provides a substantially faster transfer rate with USB 2.0 as compared to commonly used USB 1.1.
The Album feature of the Digimax A50 allows shooters to categorize and save images in albums based on their own criteria, such as event and date, and to play only selected images in a slide show.
Equipped with 32MB of built-in memory, the Digimax A50 allows shooters to save pictures without a memory card. With its Copy to Card function, users can seamlessly transfer images saved in the internal memory to external memory. The A50 also provides various useful functions such as voice recording for up to 1 hour, voice memo for adding a short voice message to a picture and "One-touch Playback" for instant playback of a picture even when the power is off.
