Sam Welch Of Homestead Editorial Wins AICE AwardWins Best Editor in Local Spot Categeory for Coinstar "SHOE" directed by PES of CZAR.US (May 26, 2005)
"Inspired Coins/Shoe," a remarkably inventive stop-motion animation spot for client Coinstar landed Sam Welch of Homestead Editorial the AICE Award for Best Editor in the Local Spot Category. The :60 commercial, from ad agency Publicis Seattle, was directed by PES of CZAR.US.
The spot opens on a rattling teacup as some change escapes the rim while a woman blow-dries her hair in the background. Loose change from around the house -- under sofa cushions, in the washing machine, in the pockets of jeans thrown on the floor -- is also magnetically drawn to a table in the living room, where it magically forms a fashionable high-heeled shoe. "What could your change be? Cash in. Go splurge."
"Winning this award is an honor especially because there was a great team behind it," comments Sam Welch. "The agency creatives and producer were incredibly relaxed -- we had an open and collaborative approach. Also, I've worked with the director, PES, for the past seven years starting with spec work and we've really grown into this process together. It is a real privilege to be recognized by my peers and I am extremely thankful."
