Safend Releases New Version of Data Protection Suite for Securing iPad(TM), iPhone(TM) and Mac(TM) in the Enterprise(December 21, 2010)
PHILADELPHIA, PA and TEL AVIV, ISRAEL -- (Marketwire) -- 12/21/10 -- Safend, a leading provider of endpoint data protection and leakage prevention solutions, today announced a new release and significant enhancements to its Safend Data Protection Suite.
"Safend Protector for Mac" is a new product in the Data Protection Suite that controls and generates audit logs for physical port access and removable device access to Leopard and Snow Leopard Macs.
The Safend Data Protection Suite includes enhancements to Safend Inspector, the product that inspects and filters "data in motion," whether transmitted via email, web, physical ports or other methods. In the new release of Data Protection Suite, Inspector can block and log data leakage in specific Smartphone and Tablet synchronization programs, such as iTunes, using Safend's Content Aware Application Control Technology.
"The rise in use of Macs and other Apple products allows for increased productivity within organizations, but these devices also bring new security concerns," said Edy Almer, vice president of Product Management at Safend. "With the Data Protection Suite's ability to protect Macs and manage the Content Aware Application Control channel, organizations no longer have to prohibit usage of devices that were previously deemed risky for the enterprise."
"Enterprises are increasingly providing their employees with tools that enable them to work more efficiently, and we are now seeing a growth in the rate at which the enterprise adopts Mac products to increase employee productivity," said Michael Osterman, principal at Osterman Research. "While these products, including iPads and iPods, are innovative and user-friendly, they're also exceptionally attractive to data thieves when loaded with sensitive corporate information. The need to secure these products -- and the data they carry -- is as critical as securing any other device that could potentially be a target for a breach or theft."
Safend, a leading provider of endpoint data protection, guards against corporate data loss and theft through its content discovery and inspection, encryption and comprehensive device and port control. Safend encrypts internal hard drives, removable storage and CD/DVDs and provides granular port and device control over all physical and wireless ports. Safend maps sensitive information and controls data flow through email, Web, external devices and additional channels. Safend ensures compliance with HIPAA, PCI, and multiple other regulatory data security and privacy standards. Safend has more than 2200 customers and over 2.6M seats deployed by multinational enterprises, government agencies and small to mid-size companies across the globe.
