SWTV Equips Dual-Format Truck with 13 Fujinon HD LensesRemote TV Live Production Truck Developed in Conjunction with CBS (October 10, 2001)
Throughout this SEC season, games are being broadcast in both 1080i/16:9 aspect ratio HDTV and in 601/4:3 standard definition television to Sears department stores in the U.S. Within Sears' stores, SD and HDTV Samsung television sets are arranged next to each other so consumers can view the difference in image quality between the two telecasts.
The SWTV truck was designed for separate SD and HD video signal paths and aspect ratio's, so that both standard definition and high definition signals each have their own pure video layers, properly timed. "All conversions are thereby minimized," explained Shawn O'Shea, Director of Engineering, SWTV. "There is absolutely no signal compromise in any production we do. This new vehicle represents another way we can assist our clients in producing live events for HDTV, without compromising the way they are used to doing their high profile network production."
Within SWTV's College Football production trucks, six Fujinon XA87x9.3ESM high definition lenses with image stabilization technology are affixed to Ikegami HDK-790E HD studio cameras, and six Fujinon HA20x7.8ERM HD and one HA10x5BRM ENG lenses are mounted on Ikegami HDK-79E HD handheld cameras.
SWTV was the first to receive Fujinon's new XA87x9.3ESM high definition lenses. And the company purchased Fujinon's AH70x9ESM zoom lens shortly after its 1997 debut, making it the first company to buy and operate the digital AH70x9.5ESM, and bringing SWTV's lens count to approximately 100 Fujinon lenses.
