SSL and Guitar Center Launch 16 In-Store Extravaganzas

Features AWS 900 Analogue Workstation System & XLogic Gear (March 16, 2005)

Solid State Logic, the makers of legendary, world-class recording and mixing consoles, and Guitar Center recently held the first of a series of 16 in-store extravaganzas featuring the AWS 900 Analogue Workstation System and XLogic line of outboard gear. The nationwide tour is designed to build hands-on awareness of this revolutionary console designed to seamlessly integrate with Digital Audio Workstations.

The Hollywood event, held March 8th, featured Grammy Award winning producer David Kershenbaum, who recently purchased two AWS 900 consoles.

?Were taking the AWS 900 console/DAW controller and our XLogic products to key markets across the U.S., says Rick Plushner, president of SSL North America. ?Each SSL clinic features guest producers and mixing engineers talking about modern day production techniques and their experiences in making hit records. SSL staff is on hand to answer questions and help create an exciting event. The year-long tour includes such cities as Atlanta, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Boston, Seattle, Denver, San Diego, Houston and Las Vegas.

The Hollywood benchmark event drew an invited audience of studio owners, artists, producers and engineers interested in learning more about the latest SSL products.

?Tuesday nights flush turnout was a splendid example of an audio community thirsting for world class products, says Marek Stycos, director of pro audio sales for Guitar Center. ?Many manufacturers are racing to the lowest common denominator while SSL is addressing the upper echelon by offering a zero compromise solution.

David Kershenbaum, a veteran music industry giant with over 60 gold and platinum albums under his wings, spoke about his past experience with SSL and how great it is to have all that historic quality in a newly affordable package. Kershenbaum runs his two AWS 900 systems in tandem with a top of the line Mac G5 and mega Pro Tools HD Accel rig with Apogee converters in his private Rebel Yell Studios completely outfitted by Guitar Center.

?With the amount of tracks we are producing, we needed to find a solution for our private ventures, Kershenbaum explains. ?The AWS 900 is the perfect solution because it gives me the incredible sound of an XL 9000 K Series in a package that fits my smaller facility. The integrated control of the Pro Tools system is also a big plus. With the AWS 900 I dont have the running expense of a full-blown facility and at the same time I can work the same music magic for my projects.

Using SuperAnalogue electronics time tested in the trend setting XL 9000 K Series SuperAnalogue console, the AWS 900 is the only console that provides the dual benefits of a fully featured SuperAnalogue signal path, coupled with a comprehensive DAW controller at this price point. The 900 features integrated 5.1 surround mixing capabilities. Signal routing, inputs/outputs, monitoring and signal processing are all permanently available on the console. Top quality motorized faders provide conventional audio level control as well as controlling the levels in a DAW.
