SLS International Files Patent Application for HiFi HeadphoneRibbon Noise Canceling headphone (January 13, 2006)
SLS International announced that the Company has filed a patent application with the U.S. patent office entitled, "Transducer, Headphone and Method for Reducing Noise" for its newly developed 'Ribbon' Noise Canceling (RNC) headphone.
This is the first ever patent application filed for a noise canceling headphone using a ribbon planar transducer, which offers dramatically improved noise reduction and higher sound quality than what is currently being offered in the headphone marketplace today.
"With the filing of the patent application for our new RNC headphone, we are one step closer to the much anticipated product launch targeted for the spring of 2006," said SLS International's President Steven Lamar. "The RNC headphone is a blockbuster addition to our existing consumer product pipeline for 2006 and we expect significant contributions to the top and bottom line. The integration of our proprietary ribbon transducer into this product significantly differentiates it from anything else on the market. The sound quality is impeccable, clear and precise with no sacrifices made in favor of noise reduction. This technology is also transferable to many different variations of headset products which will bring new opportunities for SLS in the near future. We continue our focus on utilizing SLS's proprietary technology to bring innovative, quality products to the audio industry and live up to the reputation for excellence we have established in the professional markets over the last 20 years."
The RNC headphone consists of a microphone, a planar ribbon transducer and an electrical circuit for producing and transmitting an anti-noise signal which cancels the sound wave of the noise inside the ear cup (in a plane, on the road, in manufacturing, etc.). The result is a quiet and comfortable environment for a listener to enjoy high fidelity intelligible sound from the source (MP3, CD, TV, PC, etc.) without encountering bothersome noise. With the ribbon planar transducer, acoustical impedance is lowered, which results in improved stability of the whole system between the ear cup and the head of the listener. With more stable operation of noise reducing circuitry, the end result is a cleaner signal transmission and smoother sound for the listener.
Based in Ozark, Mo., SLS International, Inc. is a 30-year-old manufacturer and developer of new proprietary patent-pending ultra-high fidelity Ribbon Driver loudspeakers, patented Evenstar Digital Amplifiers and sound systems for the commercial, home entertainment, professional and music markets. SLS has perfected the ribbon-driver technology enabling their loudspeakers to achieve exceptional inner detail and accuracy with 20% to 30% less distortion of typical compression driver and dome tweeters. SLS speakers and systems are used in high-profile venues such as NBC/MSNBC's 2002 and 2004 Olympics studios, the Recording Academy's Grammy Producers SoundTable events, and for the NAMM winter show, providing sound in the AVID Technology booth just to name a few.
