SHAKE-A-LEG Productions Completes New Work for E! , HBO, and FOX

(September 28, 2001)
Shake-A-Leg Productions, a full-service boutique music and sound design production company, has completed a company expansion into a new, 1,000 square-foot facility in Santa Monica. The company, which provides an "artistic edge" within its wide range of "traditional" to "alternative" styles of originally produced music, has also just completed a number of new projects for several of its major clients, including E! Entertainment Television, HBO, and the FOX Movie Channel.
The announcement was made today by Shake-A-Leg Productions co-founders/composers Elyse Schiller and Jim Watson.

Shake-A-Leg Productions recently composed and produced the music behind a show package on behalf of longtime client E! Entertainment Television, for that channel's new series, "Celebrity Adventures." For that project, E! requested music that could work "for any country visited," as the premise of the series involves celebrities being flown to foreign countries to experience those cultures. Shake-A-Leg created and produced music with a driving "electronica" pulse, incorporating World beats and percussion.

On behalf of HBO and client TaffetDesign, Shake-A-Leg Productions finished an identity package for the new children's daypart on HBO called "Jam." For that project, the company composed a light, "hip-hop groove" as the core music which helps give life to "Jammie," an animated character that interacts with children to promote the "Jam" daypart. Shake-A-Leg designed a large palette of sounds and audio effects to be utilized as the "voice" of "Jammie."

Shake-A-Leg has also completed the music behind a 60-second promo spot for FOX Movie Channel, working with design client, Autonomy. The promo, called (more?) -2- "13 Nights of Fright," will air on FMC just prior to Halloween, and is comprised of an orchestral environment featuring a scary cacophony of voices and layering of melodies and manipulated beats.

Shake-A-Leg Productions' new facility in Santa Monica features a Power Macintosh dual processor G4/533 running Digital Performer software, as the core digital audio workstation providing 48+ tracks of 24-bit audio to a Yamaha O2Rv2 automated console. The company also incorporates the latest array of digital processing tools, including software by BombFactory, Metric Halo & Waves, and hardware by lexicon, t.c. electronic, SONY, and Ensoniq, to name some.

The studio also provides an extensive collection of MIDI programmable synthesizers and samplers, and Adobe premiere software, which allows for complete digital video sync capabilities.

Founded in l994 by Elyse Schiller and Jim Watson, Shake-A-Leg Productions is a full-service music production company offering a fully-automated, state-of-the-art digital recording and mixing facility. The company has provided fresh, edgy, "hooky" music for the television branding industry since its inception, for clients including E! Entertainment Television, BET, ABC Daytime, Columbia TriStar Television, HBO, NHK/Japan, Nickelodeon Kids (Latin America,) SONY Pictures, TBS, and Touchstone Television, among them.

Ms. Schiller is a former CBS/Columbia recording artist and vocalist, and Mr. Watson is a recording engineer and drummer. The duo have become well known throughout the television branding industry for delivering music, sound design and audio that best exemplifies the vision of their clients, by combining a powerful "punch" with innovative, rhythmic, and melodic grooves and emotion.
