SF sheriff's wife grateful for husband's plea dealSan Francisco sheriff's wife says she's grateful for husband's plea deal to end public trial
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) ' The attorney for the wife of San Francisco sheriff Ross Mirkarimi says her client is looking forward to getting her life back to normal after her husband struck a plea deal in a domestic violence case.
Attorney Paula Canny said Monday that Eliana Lopez is grateful to her husband for ending the case in which he was accused of bruising the Venezuelan actress' arm in a New Year's Eve incident.
Mirkarimi pleaded guilty hours earlier to a misdemeanor charge of false imprisonment, heading off the spectacle of a drawn-out trial.
Canny says a stay-away order preventing Mirkarimi from seeing his wife and 2-year-old son remains in place. She says the order will be slowly lifted in the coming weeks in keeping with the city's procedure in such cases.
