Rushes Announce Opening of a New THOMSON Spirit SuiteSpirit provides clients with the ability to create a myriad of different looks (December 17, 2001)

Rushes specializes in top end commercials and music videos and the Spirit provides the ultimate in quality assurance for directors. The new suite, complete with fully equipped Spirit opened late September and is set up for work in standard definition, HD and 2k digital film data. Director of telecine, Adrian Seery comments, "We are embracing the very best technology available in the market today. For me it isn't really about the technology - it's about creating beautiful and stunning pictures and providing clients with the ability to create a myriad of different looks."
Film Imaging Activity
Customers worldwide have introduced the Spirit Datacine to their facilities to deal with the increasing demands of high definition and digital film post production. The Spirit dominates the market for high quality transfers, it has become the world standard for film-originated post production, there are over 200 facilities worldwide that host a Spirit Datacine. One of the biggest film hits of the year, 'Amelie' had it's distinctive look created digitally. It was scanned and colour manipulated on the Spirit Datacine by a senior colorist at Duboicolor in Paris.
In response to requests from users the new Super 8mm gate was launched at IBC 2001 earlier this year. For some directors, particularly those working in music videos, the grainy quality of Super 8mm film adds a very distinct atmosphere. This is now available with all the Spirit qualities, including image stability and consistency, precise colour control and a broad range of variable speed settings.
