Road to NAB: GridIron's Nucleo Pro

By Ko Maruyama
When you're going to NAB, the best thing to do is get a list of companies you want to visit.  Without it, you could easily get stuck in an island of pods for hours.  Of course there are a few big booths I'll be heading to right away.  Apple - of course. Adobe - you should have guessed it.  But there are others you may want to check out too.  Why?  Well, in this series of tutorials that I'm putting together, maybe you'll find your own answer:  This week's reason: GridIron's Nucleo Pro.

The guys at GridIron Software are always working on the "next thing", and Nucleo and Nucleo Pro were obvious ground breakers.  With the advent of multi-processing machines, even 8 processors on a single board, you'll want to be sure you're working at full tilt in the professional environment.  Nucleo Pro helps you take advantage of all of those processors easily - without any special scripting or command line setup.  You can simply use all of the techniques you're familiar with inside of After Effects to get more from your machine.

This week, I've lifted one of the free projects from AE FREEMART (yes, they're free projects for After Effects (and other applications)).  Thanks to Harry Frank - moderator at Toolfarm.  This AE project, which uses Trapcode's Particular, is a substantial render alone, but when you start to multiply the layers, you can start to tax the processors.  You don't have to worry about building a background render engine, you don't have to set proxies or break your composition into precops : Just hit it, and commit it.

You can get the project for FUZZY FLOWER by clicking here:  http://aefreemart.com/?p=5
