Rewired Launches Rewired Talent ManagementDigital system for talent tracking & payment for agencies and unions (June 23, 2004)
After over two years of intensive research and development, Rewired Production Management officially launches Rewired Talent Management, a secure Internet-based talent information system designed to collect, manage and report the information needed to hire and compensate unionized performers. This revolutionary web-based system expedites the flow of information between performer unions, advertising agencies and paymasters, and substantially reduces errors caused by the current paper-based process. Rewired brings the talent tracking process into the digital age, in step with a technologically savvy, trend-setting industry.
Using Rewired, agencies and advertisers will enjoy substantial efficiencies that will benefit each partys bottom line and profitability. The system directly addresses the issue of talent payment accuracy, an important topic currently being investigated by the ANA/AAAA Joint Policy Committee on Broadcast Talent Union Relations (JPC) and Screen Actors Guild (SAG).
Because it is Internet based, there are no licenses or software packages to purchase. Agencies who sign up for Rewired pay a per-job flat fee for each commercial produced using the system, providing maximum cost efficiency. To facilitate ease of use, Rewired provides on-site training to all system users. Password-protected access means that processing can occur via laptop computer at any Internet-linked location.
Rewired was founded by Carla Rogers, formerly Broadcast Production Manager at The Martin Agency. Rogers enjoyed a successful 8-year tenure at The Martin Agency prior to founding Rewired Production Management and also developed and implemented the project management system for Cadmus Communications (formerly OKeefe Marketing) in Richmond, VA. Steve Humble, SVP/Director of Broadcast Production at The Martin Agency has been consulting for Rewired since its inception. Humble has been working in Advertising for 15 years at Foote, Cone & Belding, Campell-Ewald Advertising, and Leo Burnett. Both Rogers and Humble bring extensive experience in commercial broadcast production to the exciting new entity.
?We're following the SAG contract to the T. Therefore, the system will not change the process, only make it electronic, comments Carla Rogers. ?All the steps are identical: The same information is collected and provided in the familiar format. Only the manner in which this information is delivered is changing; however, this alone can powerfully improve the way we do business.
?As an agency director of broadcast, I see that the record-keeping burden on agencies related to hiring union talent is enormous, and the manual forms and processing was expensive, time-consuming and error prone, comments Steve Humble. ?The system of hiring and contracting talent has been broken and limping along for years. There had to be a better way to approach the process, one that would benefit all parties and increase productivity and communication. Rewired is the result.
Currently in its Beta Test phase, the Rewired Talent Management system has already been used on commercial projects, garnering positive reception by union members and agencies alike. Rewired is presently collaborating with Chicago-based union paymaster Spotlight to directly feed production talent information into the paymasters system on a per-agency/per project basis. This type of relationship will fulfill Rewireds goal of providing collection and direct delivery of talent information in a digital format. Rewired is currently in talks with numerous large agencies interested in the service, and is also in discussion with SAG and JPC.
Rewired is based in Richmond, VA in the heart of the growing creative advertising community. For additional information, please contact Carla Rogers at 804.644.7976 or visit www.rewiredpm.com.
