Relatives of NH woman said she didn't aid genocide

Relatives of New Hampshire woman accused of role in Rwanda genocide say she never carried gun By The Associated Press

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) ' Relatives of a New Hampshire woman accused of commanding killings and rapes during the 1994 Rwanda genocide say they never saw her carry a gun or wear a military uniform.

They also testified Wednesday that Beatrice Munyenyezi (moon-yehn-YEH'-zee) of Manchester, who was pregnant with twins, spent little time outside her family-owned hotel.

She is accused of lying about her role in the genocide in documents that paved the way for her to obtain U.S. citizenship.

A roadblock in front of the hotel was described by a panel of the International Criminal Tribune on Rwanda as the site of numerous beatings, rapes and killings of members of the Tutsi ethnic group.

The Concord Monitor reports (http://bit.ly/xXJkOH) the testimony contradicts prosecution witnesses who testified Munyenyezi dictated who died at the roadblock.
