Reindeer Graphics Releases Optipix 2.0

Update adds 16-bit tools for digital photography By Dave Nagel
Reindeer Graphics has released Optipix 2.0, a major update to the company's suite of plugins for Adobe Photoshop. Optipix is a collection of filters geared toward professional photographers, offering tools for correcting and enhancing images in 8 and 16 bits. It's available now for Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows.

Optipix includes a variety of plugins for improving contrast, sharpness and other image details and also provides the ability to blend bracketed exposures and average images. The new version adds a completely revamped Auto Contrast filter with support for 16-bit images with exposure value compensation based on the Zone system. It also includes adjustable tail clipping, new layer transfer modes, a new Detail Sharpener and selection tools designed for a 16-bit workflow. Also included on the CD is a reference called "Digital Fine Print Workflow" by George DeWolfe, which includes techniques and tips for working with 16-bit images.

Optipix 2.0 is available now for Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows for $149.95. An introductory discount is also available through the Optipix online store. Users of Optipix 1.x can upgrade for $75. For more information, visit
