Recursion Announces Universal Mobile UI, Process Layer and Services Generator In Closed Beta

Code-generator offers universal user interface API abstraction and universal services on Android, iPhone, BlackBerry (October 06, 2010)
DMN Newswire--2010-10-6--Dallas, TX and San Francisco, CA (CTIA Enterprise & Applications(TM) 2010- Booth #650) -- October 6, 2010-- Recursion Software (http://www.recursionsw.com), a leader in the pervasive platform and mobile middleware space, announced a closed beta of their new Universal User Interface (UI API) and Universal Business Process Layer (UI BPL) code generation modules for iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Symbian and Windows Mobile. These powerful tools will save mobile developers a tremendous amount of time and achieve code consistency by limiting the amount of platform-specific code necessary to deploy cross-platform applications. Additionally, the Universal UI API leverages Voyager's Universal Services capability to allow the API to be remotely accessible, hence the ability for applications to transfer state from one device to another following you wherever you go.  These capabilities are powerful when creating distributed collaboration, multi-player gaming or any application that requires coordinated data sharing. Requests for the closed-beta are now accepted at http://www.recursionsw.com/Service&Support/UUIBeta.

As the mobile application market expands into M2M and emerging devices, developers need tools that expedite and abstract fragmented native API code so that they can focus on building great apps instead of debugging. For example, the Voyager Universal UI API provides an abstraction to the various "web engines", namely WebKit APIs for Android, Blackberry, iPhone and Symbian since each platform provides its own unique classes and APIs, further fragmenting the standard. Support for the Windows 7 web engine is achieved through abstraction to Silverlight v4.0 platform. The Voyager Universal UI API module provides bidirectional communication between the native application and Javascript/Web Engine and automatically generates the initial implementation of your application in both Java and C#. Combined with the ability to access the UI API remotely through the Universal Services capability, one device can update the Presentation Layer/UI of another device or group of devices facilitating "follow-me" synchronization between the devices you own or collaboration within a group.

The Voyager beta also provides a lightweight universal application framework through the Voyager Universal Process Layer API to facilitate building native applications consisting of a universal Web Engine-based Presentation Layer, Business Process Layer & Messaging Layer. It provides well-defined classes and methods to allow you to add your Business Process Logic and Messaging Logic.

"This beta release brings our Voyager pervasive vision to deploy any application, any service on any set of devices full-circle", said Bob DeAnna, CTO Recursion Software. "Developers now have tools to save them time and money, as well as enable hem to deploy apps beyond the usual mobile devices. By combining the Universal UI and Business Process Layer with Voyager's existing Universal Messaging capabilities, applications and content can 'follow-me' throughout the day on any device at my disposal."
