Rebel Arts to Debut Vast System At SIGGRAPH 2001

(August 09, 2001)
Rebel Arts announced that it will unveil its Versatile Accelerated System Technology (VAST) at SIGGRAPH 2001, which kicks off on Aug. 12 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Coming on the heels of last month's launch of the company, the Rebel Arts VAST System establishes a server standard that makes massively multiplayer gaming cost-effective for game publishers. Rebel Arts is offering the VAST System to publishers and developers interested in controlling server costs and outsourcing their game hosting.

"Massively multiplayer games may very well be the future of interactive entertainment but too many game publishers, movie studios and visionaries are blocked from exploring this market because of the high costs associated with building out and maintaining the required server infrastructure," said Paul Villadolid, CEO, Rebel Arts. "VAST solves the financial and technical problems confronting game publishers, by offering a highly scalable, cost efficient technology along with Rebel Arts Data Centers, which combine to cut equipment costs and management costs in half."

The VAST System is the outgrowth of Rebel Arts' strategic relationships with AMD and Linux NetworX. VAST is built on the newly released AMD-760 MP chipset and Linux NetworX's Evolocity cluster server system. The architecture is designed to handle the complex and growing demands of massively multiplayer online systems while also creating an affordable platform beneficial to large and small publishers alike.
