Realscan 3D Rocks With Spy Hunter: Nowhere to Run(January 23, 2006)
Realscan 3D (www.Realscan3D.com), an industry leader in mobile, high resolution, high color structured light 3D scanning, today announced the delivery of a scanned, animation-ready 3D model of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to Midway Games for its new video game Spy Hunter(R): Nowhere to Run(TM). "The Rock" is featured in the role of the game's lead character, Alex Decker.
RealCapture allows Realscan 3D to capture geometry and color at over 8 mega pixels, resulting in superior geometry and texture maps. It permits the capture of high-contrast black and white subjects and eliminates baked-in specular highlights. RealCapture also acquires materials such as metals and other shiny, reflective surfaces, which present problems to traditional scanning systems.
Midway Games plans to release Spy Hunter: Nowhere to Run in summer 2006 for Microsoft's Xbox(R) videogame system and Sony's PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system.
Founded in 2004, Realscan 3D is a Los Angeles-based effects company specializing in the creation of film quality digital doubles using structured light 3D scanning. Increasingly recognized as the premier 3D scanning boutique for film, television and video game productions, Realscan has created digital doubles for a wide variety of film productions and companies, including Walt Disney Pictures' "Sky High"; Jerry Bruckheimer Films' "Deja Vu" and "National Treasure"; FOX Television's "American Idol"; Nintendo; and Wal-Mart.
