Rain Recordings "AIRFOIL" For Laptops Now ShippingForm-fitting aluminum stand raises, stabilizes, and cools laptops (December 01, 2005)
Rain Recording's AIRFOIL For Laptops
The AIRFOIL elevates and angles the laptop, while holding it in place with a form-fitting lower lip. This provides convenient, stable positioning when using a laptop with adjacent audio gear during performing or in the studio. By securing the AIRFOIL to a surface, a laptop can be used with much more stability than by resting freely.
Two 70mm 1500 RPM silent fans provide superior laptop cooling. The fans are bus powered via USB from the laptop. Adjacent to the AIRFOIL's two rear-panel USB ports, an ON/OFF switch controls fan operation. The second port operates as a USB 2.0 pass-through so that the laptop's USB port is not sacrificed.
The AIRFOIL is capable of holding up to a 17" widescreen laptop, and is a perfect fit with the Rain Recording LiveBook. The LiveBook features 4 USB ports, three of which are on the back panel, providing a short connection to the USB input of the AIRFOIL to provide power for the fans. A USB cable is included. The AIRFOIL dimensions are 15.7" x 11.8" x 1.6" and it weighs just under 3.5 lbs.
Rain president Bill Paschick commented: "In our studies of live performers using laptops, there was a need to make the laptop more accessible, more visually prominent, more stable, and adjustable to the same angle as a mixing board. The Airfoil addresses all these needs beautifully as well as providing extra cooling with two virtually silent fans and an increased convection cooling area."
The AIRFOIL is now shipping with a price of $69.95. Visit the Rain Recording online store or find a retailer at www.rainrecording.com.
