RTMac Software for OS X Delayed

Drivers still 'in development' By Dave Nagel
Matrox has again delayed the release of its drivers for Mac OS X. The company told DMN that it was anticipating a release of beta drivers for its real-time RTMac card by the end of April of this year, with a full release to follow by the end of May. However, the release date for the beta drivers has come and gone, and no software is available yet.

Instead, Matrox posted a new notice on its support site, which reads: "Matrox is currently working on OS X drivers for RTMac and Final Cut Pro 3. We had anticipated a public beta release by the end of April, however, our beta testers have reported a few issues that we feel make the drivers unsuitable for public distribution at this time. Our engineers are focusing all of their attention on resolving these issues as quickly as possible."

In the meantime, the software remains in the hands of a small group of private beta testers. The company added that compatibility with and support for Apple's Final Cut Pro 4, expected out in June, "look promising." The Mac OS X drivers for RTMac were originally supposed to have been released by the end of June 2002. We'll keep you updated as details become available. For more information, visit
