RTMac Brings Real Time to PremiereNew drivers free for current owners
The new version carries the same stand-alone price of $999, but a bundle with Premiere 6.0 is also available for $1,199. Current owners of both Premiere and the RTMac can download the new drivers for free from the Matrox Web site.
According to Matrox, the RTMac for Premiere offers three layers of video and graphics in real time. We don't have all of the details of the Premiere version yet, but in Final Cut Pro, the card provides real-time support for the following effects:
- Dissolve: Cross Dissolve
- Iris: Cross Iris, Diamond Iris, Oval Iris, Point Iris, Rectangle Iris, Star Iris
- Slide: Band Slide, Box Slide, Center Split Slide, Multi Spin Slide, Push Slide, Spin Slide, Split Slide, Swap Slide
- Wipe: Center Wipe, Clock Wipe, Edge Wipe, Insert Wipe, V Wipe.
It also supports real-time motion effects for a video or graphics layer, including scaling, rotation, position, cropping, distortion, drop shadow and opacity. And it supports real-time display of single-layer Photoshop files, as well as JPEGs, PICTs, Targa files and TIFFs, as long as they're created at 720 x 480.
The RTMac includes a breakout box for analog capture. It also provides output to an NTSC or PAL studio monitor as well as a second computer monitor.
We reviewed the RTMac for Final Cut Pro back in June. You can read it at http://www.creativemac.com/2001/06_jun/reviews/matroxrtmac/matroxrtmac-page1.htm. For more information from Matrox or to download the new drivers, visit http://www.matrox.com.
