RGB Spectrum's QuadView Enhances Times Square LED WallDisplays computer generated images as well as video content for LG Group (September 03, 2004)
LG Group wanted to add digital signage on the roof of its headquarters in New York. The requirements were to display computer generated images as well as video content, and occasionally combining both in a PIP configuration. RGB Spectrum's QuadView video processor, with its DVI output, fit the bill. It offered superior video scaling to adapt an NTSC or a computer image to the low resolution of LED panels. Even though the downscaling in resolution was fairly substantial, the QuadView ensured minimal degradation of the source images. It provided a plug-and-play, easy to control, 24/7 standalone solution, at an affordable price.
The QuadView processor is fed imagery from a PC and from a live camera. One or the other or both images in a picture-in-picture configuration are fed to the LED wall. Picture-in-picture capability is often used for special events such as the famed Times Square New Years' Eve Party, where graphics are combined with live video to enhance the mood of the day.
LG Group incorporates the QuadView XL Display Processor for picture-in picture display of live video placed on top of a background image on its LED Wall in Times Square in New York City.
The QuadView XL is the first of a new generation of windowing systems. With the most powerful image processing available and outstanding image quality, plus new features such as web-based control, dynamic window sizing, borders and titling, and smooth zoom/pans, the QuadView XL is ideal solution for any application requiring the display of multiple images on a monitor or projector. The QuadView XL accepts high resolution RGB, HDTV, S-Video, component, and NTSC/PAL composite video and optional DVI inputs. Up to sixteen sources can be connected, four of which can be displayed simultaneously.
