REALVIZ Intros Automatic MatchMover at SIGGRAPH

(August 13, 2001)
REALVIZ introduced MatchMover, a significant update to the company's award-winning 3D camera-tracking application. MatchMover enables animation and special effects professionals to create seamless image sequences integrating live-action footage with computer-generated (CG) 2D and 3D elements. MatchMover brings incredibly fast and robust production capabilities to the desktop for advanced digital visual effects creation. REALVIZ will be demonstrating MatchMover at booth #1467 during SIGGRAPH, at the Los Angeles Convention Center, August 14-16.

REALVIZ develops production-proven applications, having been used for incredible effects in films like "Swordfish," "Captain Corelli's Mandolin," "Enemy At The Gates," "Driven," "Monkey Bone," and many others. "Our tools are developed by artists, for artists, and MatchMover caters to the complex needs of visual effects artists challenged with building CG set extensions and inserting CG objects into live footage," explained Emmanuel Javal, President, REALVIZ Corp. "MatchMover already provides extremely accurate results with the ability to track any type of image sequence, and soon will offer users the option of getting those results automatically."

MatchMover's automatic 3D camera tracker detects relevant 2D features in an image sequence and turns them into accurate 3D scene and camera moves. Track selection, 2D tracking and 3D tracking are all performed completely automatically. This unique combination of the most powerful and productive camera tracking software with automated image content analysis has produced an incredibly fast and robust production tool for digital visual effects creation. The application is built on technology derived from over ten years of research at France's renowned research institute, INRIA.

MatchMover is priced at an MSRP of $5,000 (U.S.), with application specific versions starting at $2,600 (US). MatchMover 2.1, with a robust new camera-tracking engine is currently available. For more information, visit
