REAL Software Announces Plans to Support Intel MacsREALbasic's cross-platform compiler will soon support creation of Mac OS X applications (June 08, 2005)
REAL Software announced today that REALbasic will add support for Mac OS X on Intel processors. Apple Computer recently announced plans to transition the Macintosh product line to Intel processors.
"Since REALbasic is cross-platform by design," stated Geoff Perlman, president and CEO of REAL Software, "REALbasic users will have the fastest, easiest transition to Mac OS X on Intel. Most applications will require nothing but a simple re-compile, with no code changes at all. REALbasic is cross-platform that really works."
REALbasic's cross-platform compiler has supported the Intel processor since 1999, before Mac OS X was released. This mature and robust Intel compiler will soon support the creation of Mac OS X applications, and will be included in both REALbasic Standard and Professional Editions. REALbasic will continue to support the creation of Macintosh applications for the PowerPC processor.
REALbasic is a full-featured software design environment easily suited to creating all kinds of applications, from utilities to enterprise-class applications. REALbasic is available now starting at $99.95 direct from REAL Software, Fry's and other software retailers. REALbasic Professional Edition, required for cross-platform deployment, starts at $399.95 and includes extended functionality for database and team development. REALbasic is updated every 90 days according to the company's new Rapid Release Model, http://www.realsoftware.com/rapidrelease.
