RE:Vision Launches RE:Flex for After Effects

Plugins create warp and morph effects By Dave Nagel
RE:Vision FX, maker of Video Gogh and ReelSmart Twixtor, has released a new set of plugins for Adobe After Effects called RE:Flex. The set includes two filters for creating warp and morph effects in AE using the host's own drawing and masking tools. It's available now for Macintosh and Windows.

The plugins in the set include RE:Flex Warp and RE:Flex Morph. In Warp, the warping is controlled using from and to geometries at each frame. Users can set the amount of warp and animate it.

The Morph plugin uses "key images," which are placed in the timeline by the user. Morphing occurs by creating a set of geometry on the first key image, then moving the set to corresponding places on each of the successive key images. Users can animate the geometries used in the process in order to achieve non-constant morph speeds.

Both plugins allow users to warp and morph using AE's mask geometries rather than a mesh. Matching geometries do not have to have the same number of control points. It produces smooth, non-polygonal warping, and interactive warping is accomplished through AE's interactive preview. The plugins support 8 and 16 bits per channel.

Through Jan. 1, RE:Flex is available for $395. After that, it will be priced at $495. A demo version is available for download at
